David Bailey
This photograph taken of Michael Caine is very typical of the 1960s as the fashion, glasses and cigarette are all very much of their time. The framing and stark contrast of black and white are quite striking and original, they are very much a david Bailey trademark. Michael Caine was at the time an aspiring actor who was keen to play major roles, this photograph and particularly the high camera angle make him seem a star already.
I find this photograph particularly interesting as the kray twins were real life criminals, they were very unpleasant men who did terrible things. this photograph suggests the menace and danger they represent. Technically the framing is very close and the lighting very harsh. portraits are usually of one person, this one works very well because the visual tension is heightened by the twins being infront of rather than next to each other.

Scvaullo wanted to capture women in a timeless elegent way.
Strand 1
I wanted to use the same bight backrounds and contrasting clothes that scavullo is known for, I wanted my model to look timeless and tried to capture her when she was unaware as to caputre a moe natural beauty opposed to more modern magazine front covers where the models are trying to be beasutiful. I dont think the studio lighting in these photos is very
Development
In my seocnd attempt I wanted to work on creating a more natural light with the studio lights and for the model's face to be completely lit, as i wanted the audience to see absoulte clarity. I was happy with these set of pictures as I feel the models eyes really pirce through and grab the audience attention, she is fliratious yet demure which captures the type of women i was trying to represent. On photoshop I used the patch tool and doging and burning to create a flawless effect on the models face as i wanted to create a that 'poster girl' type of photograph.

In my next attempt with the same model I decided to do full body shots incoperating the
In this final attempt I wanted to create the effect of a more aged time, less defined and glossy through the colour and texture of the photo I wanted to separate the colour and texture so i could manipulate them individually to do this I separated the colour and texture on photoshop by duplicating the layers and manipulating only colour on layer 1 and texture on layer 2 by making the colour more vibrant and reducing the textures opacity i was able to give my photographs the 80s vibe i wanted. I also decided to add text to the pictures to further replicate a magazine 'poster' shot I decided to use 1980s cosmopolitan headlines, the constant obsession with finding a man in comparison with whats on the front covers of magazines today amazes me and i think this really shows a progression of time.

Guy Bourdin is A french fashion photographer who began taking pictures whilst training as a cadet in the french air force. his most notable work has been published in highly regarded fashion magazine Vogue. His photography style tends to have a narrative of mystery, violence and sexuality.
Final outcome
For my second strand I wanted to incorporate Guy Bourdin's ideas of using polaroid pictures to replace part of the photograph. I used a high saturation and colourful clothing and props for this set of images as i wanted the photos to be striking and interesting to look at.
